Comfort Play & Teach
Research tells us the first five years
are pivotal to children’s ability to learn and create, to
love, to trust and to develop a strong sense of themselves. What’s
more, how we care for our children in their earliest years has
a profound impact on how productive, resilient, compassionate
and confident they become as adults. Being a parent is one of
the most rewarding jobs you will ever do but at the same time
very challenging. That’s why this parent education program
was developed by Invest in Kids. Estevan Family Resource Centre
staff trained in using this program.
Parent‘s 1,2,3,4
The purpose of this wonderful program
is to provide training and support for families experiencing the
dynamic changes of early childhood development. This program has
been designed for all parents of young children. The program is
for three sessions, most of the program focuses on the “how
to” rather than the “why”. This program is offered
by trained staff from Estevan Family Resource Centre and Estevan
Parenting Skills Education Program
Active Parenting Now
This program is for parents with children
5-12 years of age. Active Parenting Now is a six session video
based learning experience that teraches a comprehensive model
of parenting. The program goals are to teach parents to communicate
effectively with children, prevent the use of alcohol, tobacco
and other drugs, discipline while teaching responsibility, encourage
the development of self esteem, redirect misbehaviour and sidestep
power struggles, and explore and encourage non-violent conflict
resolution inside the home and out. Offered by trained staff from
Estevan Family Resource Centre.
Active Parenting Families In Action
A video based interactive learning
experience for parents and teens to take together. The program
is six two hour sessions and works best with 10-15 participants.
Two facilitators guide parent groups and teen groups separately
then half way through each session the parents and teens join
together. Families are more alike than different. All families
of teens and preteens struggle with such issues as independence,
emerging sexuality, the risks of drug and violence, discipline,
communication and problem solving. Trained Staff from Estevan
Family Resource Centre – program can be loaned out.
